Posted by Roger Sanders @ 02:23 PM ET | May 7, 2008

IDUG North America and the free certification opportunities it presents are just weeks away. Brush up by glancing through these certification sample questions and many others. All questions are from the book DB2 9 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows Database Administration: Certification Study Guide, published by MC Press, and are reprinted with permission. Check back each week for more.

QUESTION 33
Which of the following objects can NOT be created from the Control Center?

A. Buffer pool
B. Event monitor
C. Trigger
D. User-defined Function

QUESTION 34
Which of the following IMPORT command options will cause the Import utility to acquire a table-level lock after every commit?

A. ALLOW NO ACCESS
B. ALLOW READ ACCESS
C. ALLOW WRITE ACCESS
D. ALLOW FULL ACCESS

Answers

QUESTION 33
The correct answer is D. While most objects can be created from the Control Center, user-defined functions (UDFs) cannot. User-defined functions must be created by executing the CREATE FUNCTION SQL statement from the Command Line Processor or the Command Editor, or by using the DB2 Developer Workbench.

QUESTION 34
The correct answer is C. If the IMPORT command is executed with the ALLOW WRITE ACCESS option specified, the Import utility will request a table lock after every commit operation is performed. This can cause an import operation to run slowly in environments that have high concurrency. That is not the case if the ALLOW NO ACCESS option is specified. (There is no ALLOW READ ACCESS or ALLOW FULL ACCESS option.)
