1. FROM THE EDITOR

* Hot List
I mentioned last month that DB2 Magazine is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Looking back through the rich archives, I was reminded what a knowledgeable and talented group of writers lend their expertise to these pages. Did you know that industry experts Craig Mullins and David Beulke have written for the magazine from the very first issue? Shortly thereafter, Bonnie Baker launched her Programmers Only column, which remains a reader favorite. The prolific duo of Robert Catterall and Roger Sanders continue to write popular columns that serve the changing DBA role (and they tirelessly answer reader questions like the one below). Then there are the newer contributors (including Lester Knutsen, Stuart Litel, and Jean George Perrin) who serve our expanding Informix audience. Add to these industry voices the IBM experts who lend their considerable knowledge-- and we've got a pretty incredible roster. Space prevents me from naming every amazing contributor, but glance at the latest table of contents for the current all-star lineup. You can send suggestions and appreciation to the writers via the contact information provided at the end of each article. Here's a short list of some recent highlights. --Kim Moutsos

2. ASKED AND ANSWERED

* The application I work on currently uses COBOL DB2 stored procedures on z/OS running under the WLM address space. Would you recommend a plain COBOL sub-routine call or an exec SQL call? Can I return a result from the called stored procedure along with a result-set from the calling procedure? Also, please elaborate on the PROGRAM TYPE key word in the CREATE STORED PROCEDURE statement.
