IDUG announced the DB2 Deep Compression Challenge, sponsored by IBM. Through the challenge, DB2 9 users can report actual or estimated compression ratios achieved using DB2's Deep Compression and Inspect tool. Competitive DBMS users can access a Database Storage Analyzer tool that will report estimated savings available through the Deep Compression feature. In other IDUG news, registration and housing information are now available online for IDUG 2007 - Europe. Reduced rates are available if you register before September 21, 2007.

The IDUG 2008 - North America Call for Presentations is now open and submissions will be accepted through September 4, 2007.
