Q and A

Asked and Answered

I tried entering the RUNSQLSTM , CRTSQLCI , and CRTSQLRPG commands and got messages saying the commands are not found. What library are these commands located in, or what feature of OS/400 do I need to use SQL?

Michael Pavlak responds:

The article I put together focused on V5R1. You do need to have SQL installed on your system to take advantage of some functions. If you can't get your management to buy SQL, I wouldn't recommend adopting too many SQL-based functions into your production workload (because it wouldn't be supported). If you simply want to play with SQL, you can go to the iseriesnetwork.com and look for the free SQL utility. I started with that eight years ago.
